Movie conversion on Windows

Hi,

When you get a new phone, its a struggle to convert your movies to work at the best quality with the right format & size for the right player! So here is some very useful & important info on watching your favorite movies on the Rokr E6 & also on the A1200 on RealPlayer as well as ZmPlayer.

These are all tried & tested settings on a Rokr E6.

Watching Movies On the built-in RealPlayer

  • Format Recommended: mp4
  • Conversion Software: “WinAvi iPod/PSP/3Gp/Mp4 Converter”
  • Program Settings:
  • Video Size: 352 x 288
  • FPS: 10
  • Video Bitrate: 96000
  • Audio Sample Rate: 16000
  • Audio Bitrate: 32000
  • Aspect Ratio: 4:3 (optional - to remove black area)

Watching AVI files on ZmPlayer

  • Format Recommended: avi
  • Conversion Software: WinAvi video converter
  • Settings:
  • Video: DivX 5.2.1 Codec
  • Audio: ZJMedia Mp3 Encoder
  • FPS: 15 or 10
  • Picture Size: 320 x 240
  • Audio Bitrate: 192000
  • Audio Sample Rate: 44100
  • Aspect Ratio: 4:3 (optional - to remove black area)

ZmPlayer is a user developed software used to play videos. The setting up of the player is a bit tricky but trust me its worth the every effort. ZmPlayer Installation Guide» http://www.motorolafans.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9673&highlight=zmplayer

The conversion softwares used are both trial versions. If you're smart enough, search for it on a file sharing program or look around for a crack/keygen or cracked version of it.

The resultant file size of the converted videos is generally 1/3rd to 1/4th of the original file size. But it could vary depending on the quality of the source file. Decreasing the fps to 10 will reduce the size noticeably.

For AVI files, I recommend using DivX codec since it gives Maximum compression and the Audio codec can vary as long as it works fine for you. DivX Codec Download » http://www.divxmovies.com/codec/

Movie conversion on Linux

there are excellent free tools available for the job. on linux use ffmpeg and on windows i think its called super. here's what i use to encode videos for my e6

ffmpeg -i inptfile -y -f mp4 -bitexact -vcodec mpeg4 -s 320×240 -r 15 -b 256k -acodec aac -ac 1 -ar 16000 -ab 32 output.mp4

which encodes the video (mp4) at 15fps at 256kbps .audio will be mono, for stereo use -ac 2. i know it can go higher with the framerate and bitrate but i normally encode dvd's which creates a big file.
